first dot experiment
This is a video of a powerpoint presentation I created using the basic transitions that come in that program… I guess what I was trying to see was how I perceive changes in foreground/background using the dot as a focal point in order to try and capture the effects of contrast changes.
Some thoughts regarding the dot…[dot, dot, dot]
The dot has no orientation, and as such is perceived to be static, but… because it is a static element, it forces the person viewing it to choose some direction in which to go.
The dot is:
- multidirectional
- solid and efimeral (black and white)
- a filled circle
- a starting “point”, it marks the end of one idea and the potential begining of the next idea
The black dot absorbs light.
The white dot is light.
Therefore, the black dot contains the white dot, however without light we can´t see the black dot.
The dot focuses attention and centers concentration. It´s a landmark, an instant in time, a moment, an event, one frame, one image, a snapshot.
The dot helps us to locate key “points” on a string [line] of actions, or sequence of events.
